We are not a chain that moved into Ohio. We are Ohio shops that joined forces and kept the crews.
How this came together
Major League Tire is what happened when a group of independent Northeast Ohio shops stopped competing with the national chains one at a time.
Cortland was Hovis Tire & Automotive for more than 27 years. Mentor was ESS Automotive, and before that Elwell Tire. A good share of our technicians came up through Terry’s Tire Town. Between the six shops there are over 300 years of experience standing on the floor.
We did not clear anybody out and rebrand the buildings. The people you dealt with before are the people you deal with now. What is different is what sits behind them: a parts network, warranty coverage and tire buying power that no single shop on its own could negotiate.

What we will not do
Independent shops have a reputation problem, and it is earned by the ones who deserve it. Here is where we draw our lines.
Start work you did not approve
You get the diagnosis and the number first. If it changes once we are in there, you get another call, not another line on the invoice.
Sell you four when you need two
If two tires will do the job safely on your car, that is what we will quote you.
Leave you wondering
If your car is going to be longer than we said, you will hear it from us before you have to call and ask.
Local crews, and it matters
Our technicians live in the towns they work in. They see you at the grocery store. That is a real accountability mechanism and it is the reason a neighborhood shop and a national chain are not the same product at the same price.
It also means the person who answers your call can make a decision. There is no regional office to check with.
